Martín Canali and Gustavo Pratto: The Coaching Duo Behind Coello and Tapia

Martín Canali, alongside Gustavo Pratto, forms the coaching tandem on the bench of Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, the world number one pair for the last three consecutive seasons. That kind of consistency at the top does not happen by accident.
Coello in particular has drawn attention for his near-mechanical level of play. The description 'robot' is not an insult in padel circles. It means his execution under pressure is repeatable, his decision-making is clean, and his physical condition holds through five-set finals.
Pratto handles much of the technical and tactical work, while Canali brings complementary input that keeps the coaching approach from going stale. Two voices in the box can create conflict or create depth. With Coello and Tapia, it clearly creates depth.
Three years at world number one is the kind of run that puts a pair in the conversation with the all-time greats of the sport. Sanyo Gutierrez and Juan Martin Diaz held the top spot for years, but the consistency Coello and Tapia show on the Premier Padel circuit is built on a different physical and tactical model.
The staff deserves credit. Not perfect. But the results are hard to argue with.
